Microsoft Announces New Developer Certification: MCSD!

It is Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer or MCSD!

No, it is not the same one that existed a (not so) long time ago. Except having the same name and – obviously – the acronym, it is new and it is part of the updated or, should I say – new – certification wave that we saw back in April.

As a part of Microsoft’s reinvented certification program, Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) continues to be the industry benchmark for and to validate exceptional Developers’ skills on Microsoft technologies.

Two new certifications are being introduced:

  • MCSD: Windows Metro Style Apps validates your expertise in designing and developing Metro style apps (yes, we are talking about Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012)
    and
  • MCSD: Web Applications is a proof of your ability to create and deploy modern web applications and services.

While Beta MCSD exams for Windows Metro Style Apps will be available in June you will have to wait late summer for Web Applications exams and certification details.

MCSD

MCSD: Windows Metro Style Apps comes in two flavors:

  1. MCSD: Windows Metro Style Apps Using HTML5 and
  2. MCSD: Windows Metro Style Apps Using C#

Each MCDS certification requires three exams as outlined below (clips taken from Microsoft Learning – MCSD Windows Metro Style Apps) site
